Make it Personal

Recently I have gone out of my way to make it a point to tell my cashier at the local grocery store thank you and call them by their name. The funny thing about it is this salutation is usually followed by a bewildered look. Most people in society today do not expect to be called by their name, the question is why? I believe the answer is we as a society have gotten very impersonal. We do not take the time to wave at our neighbors or have a casual conversation with our mail carrier like society used too. It is almost like we have gotten too busy or too afraid and protective to take the time learn the names of the people we come in contact with on a regular basis. You would think with all the new technological advances in communication that society would be better at personal communication. Well, the real skinny is this, we serve a very personal God. Scripture tells us he knows the very hairs on our head and that he calls us by our name. If our God takes the time to be personal with us and calls us by our name, I believe we should take the time to be personal with our fellow man. Doing so creates a better personal relationship as well as puts a smile on the face of those helping us. So join me and make it a point to make things personal, Share your thoughts TW.
